Born in 1956, Dr. Michael Rhett grew up in Harlem in New York City. He graduated from Bishop Dubois High School and spent 25 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Master Sergeant. Rhett holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the State University of New York and the University of Central Oklahoma, as well as a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia. He worked as an Educational Coordinator for City of Refuge in Atlanta and taught in Cobb County School District’s adult education program. Since 2014, Rhett has represented District 33, which includes Marietta and Powder Springs, in the Georgia State Senate.
