This photo shows Dr. Betty Siegel cutting the celebration cake to signify Kennesaw State College receiving university status and becoming Kennesaw State University in 1996. By 1996, Dr. Siegel had seen many accomplishments during her tenure as president. Some of Dr. Siegel's major accomplishments from 1981 until 1996 included the establishment of an athletic program, restructuring the school's academic organization, overseeing the development of advanced degree programs, and helping the university's student population exceed 10,000 students. Siegel would serve as KSU's president for another ten years.
