Olan McCray was born on 1921 around the Cherokee-Cobb County line. Mr. McCray greew up on a farm that is now where the Centennial Golf Course is located. His father left working on the farm and worked at the Acworth Mills. Mr. McCray discusses what it was like growing up and working in the area. McCray worked initially at the mill before moving to Bell Aircraft until the plant closed. After it's closure, McCray worked back at the mill before tranistioning to working as a plumber. Olan open and ran McCray Plumbing, Electrical and Heating in Acworth from roughly 1949 to 1967. During Herbert McCollum's tenure as County Commisioner, Olan was hired as an inspector for the county. Mr. McCray would then move onto being elected to Justice of the Peace from 1972 to 1983.
