Born to Marie Wise Summerour and Charlie Echols in 1948, Glenda Wise Perkinson grew up alongside her twin brother Glen in Acworth. She attended the segregated Roberts School and Lemon Street High School in Marietta before taking a job in quality control with Underwood Mold Company. She married Larry Perkinson and has one daughter, Teresia.
