Beverly Griffin Patton, School Street, Acworth, Georgia, 1972.

Born to Willis Eugene Griffin and Corrie Louise Rice Griffin in 1953, Beverly Griffin Patton grew up on Moon Street in Acworth. She attended the segregated Roberts School before transferring to Awtrey Junior High School during integration. After graduating from North Cobb High School, Patton worked for C.W. Matthews Contracting Company. She completed a degree in business administration at Kennesaw State University in 1983 and later became a manager for the United States Postal Service. In the 1990s, Patton served on Acworth’s historic preservation committee and volunteered with the Cobb County branch of the NAACP. Patton managed the Black Acworth Community Homecoming celebration for more than a decade and serves as an associate minister at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church today. She has a son, Vance, and granddaughter, Summer.
