Born to Arthur Edward Harden and Lenora Floyd Harden in 1944, Helen Harden Hill attended Acworth’s segregated Rosenwald School and Roberts School, and Marietta’s Lemon Street High School. She graduated from Atlanta’s Apex Beauty & Barber Academy in 1963 and worked as a beautician before taking a job first as a nutritionist at Kennestone Hospital and later as a machine operator at Coats and Clark thread mill. Hill worked as a family caregiver in the 1990s and 2000s and volunteered in support of Acworth tourism. Married to Leroy Hill in 1963, Hill has three children, Leroy, Jr., Reneé, and Nichelle, and nine grandchildren. Today, she lives with her son in Hiram, Georgia.
