dc.descriptionThis scrapbook documents the Lorelei Ladies softball team of Atlanta, Georgia, primarily from the years 1953 to 1955 with some later materials. A significant portion of the scrapbook relates to the athletic achievements of Frances Wallace, including her earning the title of Miss Softball at the 1953 World's Tournament in Toronto, Canada. The scrapbook contains clippings, photographs, letters, and ephemera. Bobbie Bailey sponsored the Lorelei Ladies from 1960 to 1980. Notes on identifications: On page 2, the unidentified woman kneeling on the left side of the front row is Jane Cleveland (later Jane Mantel). Page 9 identifies two men as Coke executives. On the reverse side of the photograph they are identified as Bob Saunders (CNE Sports Committee Chairman) and Mayor Lamport. Page 15 identifies a player as "Big Bertha." On the reverse side the image is identified as "Tiny" Atkinson.en_US
