dc.descriptionHarvey E. Durham and Bessie H. Durham were both born in Acworth, GA near Mars Hill Road. Harvey Durham was born into a farming family and continued to work in agriculture for many years. His main crop was cotton but also involved in dairy farming and raising cattle. Harvey also worked as a rural mail carrier and a timber buyer. Harvey and Bessie married around the 1930s and had four children. This oral history interview covers a variety of topics, including education during the early twentieth century, agriculture, the cotton crop, and the Durham family's biological relationship to Mary Phagan, whose death resulted in the lynching of Leo Frank in 1915.en_US
