Dean Thomas R. Currin joined the Civil Engineering Technology Department of Southern College of Technology in 1991. Dr. Currin became Southern Polytechnic State University’s Director of Planning for Engineering in 2005. The following year, 2006, he became the founding dean of SPSU’s School of Engineering. He played a central role in gaining Board of Regents approval and professional accreditation for SPSU’s various degree programs in engineering. With consolidation, he became the founding dean in 2015 of KSU’s Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology. In 2016 the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers chose Dr. Currin as the Georgia Engineer of the Year. He retired in June 2018.
