Daniel R. Silver was a civil engineering technology student at Southern Polytechnic State University until his graduation in May 2015. As a student leader, Mr. Silver was actively involved in the student response to the proposed consolidation of Kennesaw State University and SPSU in the fall of 2013. He composed and emailed a petition to the Board of Regents asking that several SPSU students be allowed to address the board on the consolidation issue. The regents agreed to his proposal and Silver was able to attend the meeting to support speakers. He was also able to meet privately with the chancellor to express his views. Later Silver served on several Operational Working Groups that helped to plan for the consolidation.
