dc.descriptionBill F. Rohner was born in Marietta, Georgia, in 1922. His father and uncle owned Rohner Brothers Plumbing Company. With the exception of his service in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he has lived in Marietta his entire life. As a tech sergeant, Rohner participated in 35 missions over Germany from 1944 to 1945. After the war, he went to work in 1947 for People's Financial Corporation in Marietta. Shortly afterwards, he married Jane Kirk, whose grandfather once owned several hundred acres of land.The property boundaries extended from Kennesaw Avenue to a portion of the east side of Kennesaw Mountain. Bill and Jane were married for almost 63 years until her death in 2010. At the time of the interview in June 2014, Mr. Rohner, at age 91, still worked for People's Financial Corporation two days a week.</p> <p>The Cobb Landmarks & Historical Society requested that Dr. Tom Scott conduct this interview on behalf of the Kennesaw State University Oral History Project and paid for the transcription.</p>en_US
