David L. Morgan received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin in 1968 and taught for several years at Georgia Tech, Pace Academy, and Georgia State University before joining the faculty of Kennesaw College in 1978. Partnering with Thomas B. Roper Jr., Morgan coached KSU's first intercollegiate men's and women's cross-country teams during the 1982, 1983, and 1984 seasons. He also served as the Head Coach in 1992 and 1993 and as Assistant Coach until his retirement in the spring of 2002.
