dc.descriptionPhotograph of Alexander Mable's eight daughters: Irene and Ruth Ann (back row), Adelaine, Athlene, Ethlene, and Jessie (middle row), Pheriby and Lucy (front row). Twins Ethlene and Athlene both became teachers and taught at the Mable School. Their father, Alexander Mable (1847-1936), was the fifth son of Robert and Pheriby Aycock Mable. He became a farmer and married twice, producing twelve children (eight daughters and four sons).
