Description
Born in Belgium in 1940, Leon Blumenthal spent the first years of his life imprisoned in camps. His parents had fled Austria for Belgium after the Anschluss, and they were eventually deported to the Gurs and Rivesaltes camps in France. Blumenthal’s father was murdered at Majdanek in Poland, but Blumenthal, his mother, and his brother survived the war and later immigrated to the United States. Blumenthal recorded his oral history interview at Kennesaw State University in May 2019.
